The stately Royal Arch at the Seagate Bus Station in June 1961. Just three years later it was demolished bit by bit using dynamite as it stood in the way of a massive waterfront redevelopment. It took four years to build, starting in 1849, to commemorate a visit to the city by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
